Client Overview
Renee Pugh is a dual-licensed U.S. immigration attorney with over 15 years of experience, practicing in both New York and Alberta. Her firm, Strategic US Visas, serves high-performing individuals — artists, athletes, entrepreneurs, and investors — seeking to live and work in the United States through O-1 visas, EB-1 green cards, investment visas, and inadmissibility waivers. With offices in Edmonton, Las Vegas, and London, the firm operates across three continents.
Challenges
Renee came to Timofey.ca needing a website that could do several difficult things at once:
- Establish credibility and trust for a legal practice operating across international jurisdictions
- Communicate a complex, multi-service offering (10+ visa types) in a way that felt approachable and conversion-focused
- Serve very different client personas — from a circus artist in Montreal to a corporate executive in London — without feeling generic
- Comply with strict bar advertising rules in both New York and Alberta, which prohibit attorneys from claiming they “specialize” or are “experts” without formal certification
- Stand out visually in a legal industry where most websites look identical
Our Solution
A fully custom WordPress website with a bespoke child theme, designed and developed from the ground up.
Information Architecture
The site was structured around the way clients actually search — by who they are, not just by visa type. Dedicated landing pages were built for circus artists, dancers, directors, artists, athletes, and entrepreneurs, alongside service pages for investment visas, green cards, waivers, and corporate immigration. This gave the site strong SEO surface area while making every visitor feel the firm understood their specific situation.
Design
The visual direction balances legal authority with a premium, modern aesthetic — dark backgrounds, strong typography, and high-quality imagery. The goal was to feel like a top-tier firm without feeling cold or inaccessible. Conversion elements like a Quick Visa Assessment form and persistent consultation CTAs were woven naturally into the layout.
Three-Continent Office Structure
The site presents Edmonton, Las Vegas, and London as distinct offices with individual pages, local contact details, and tailored messaging — positioning the firm as globally accessible while remaining locally relevant.
Bar Compliance Review
During the project, a compliance issue was identified: the site’s original copy used “specialist,” “specializes,” and “expertise” throughout — language that violates attorney advertising rules in New York and Alberta without formal certification. A full site audit was conducted across every page, section, heading, alt text, meta description, and footer. Every instance was flagged, categorized by priority, and replaced with compliant alternatives — “practice focuses on,” “counsel,” “advises clients navigating” — language drawn directly from the client’s own proposed wording to maintain her voice.
